Will what I have in mind count for CAS?

  1. Does it fall into one or more of these categories?
    • Creativity:

      • Does it use or develop imagination, creative skills, Ie: learning to write poetry / compose music, learning / teaching a musical instrument, artistic genre, style, etc.?
      • What will be the end product that demonstrates your creativity?
    • Activity:

      • Is it a sustained physical activity for the purpose of developing / maintaining a healthy lifestyle, such as participating in a sport?
    • Service:

      • Does it meet an authentic community need
      • What is the community need? How the will it be addressed? Who will benefit and how?
      • How will you know the need has been met.
  1. Do you have clearly defined, personal goal(s) that are measurable? For each project, engagement is important, but the ultimate goal is personal growth and awareness.
  1. Who will be your supervisor?
      • Must be an adult, non-family member
      • Email address is required
  2. Have you identified the L.O.´s that are appropriate to the project and what will be your level of engagement?

 

To begin a project, it must be on Managebac and approved. Be sure to:

  1. Name the project in a way that clearly identifies what you are doing. e.g.: If you are football team captain, don´t just label it “Football.”
  2. Indicate the corrrect start and end dates. This will INCLUDE preliminary planning and meetings.
  3. Identify whether it is Creativity, Activity and / or Service
  4. Identify which Learning Objective(s) (LO) you think you will be able to address. For most projects, this should be limited to a maximum of four (4).
  5. Explain clearly:
    1. what you will do in the project.
    2. what will be accomplished or developed through the project.
    3. the personal learning goals you have for the project.
  1. Fill in the name AND email contact for the adult supervisor who is NOT a family member. Note: outside supervisors are subject to approval by the CAS Advisor / Coordinator.
  2. For outside supervisors, a supervisor agreement form completed by the candidate, signed by supervisor and candidate, and uploaded to the project evidence on Managebac.
